Reduction of Sulphur content from high sulphur diesel by replacing the existing expensive methods

It is a known fact that, the Sulphur standards as per EU regulations have become more stringent. It is likely that, between 2006 to 2009, Sulphur in Diesel has to be brought down to 10 ppm levels.

As all refineries have to meet with these standards, cost of equipment, demand and Delivery equipment for new plants will increase. Delivery of catalysts can be a problem as world demand may outstrip the existing production for a short time.Besides, rise in cost of crude will also increase demand for more refineries as more drilling and production will follow the increase in crude prices.

Consistent Research with desuphurization of Hydrocarbons
We have been developing a method for the reduction of sulphur from hydrocarbon fuel streams such as Diesel, Gasoline, Condensate, Fuel Oils etc., since 2002. Our research team with more than four decades of combined experience in the Hydrocarbon industry, along with the uptodate knowledge in chemistry and the modern advances in chemical engineering, have culminated the development of the new methodology of desulphurization of fuels.

It is a privilege that our research and technical team have got very good encouragement from various quarters. The method developed has been successfully tested by a major multinational oil company in the Far East and it was found that sulphur from the diesel stream using the new method has been reduced from 2700 ppm to below 300 ppm. Further advancements are under way to reduce the sulphur to below 20ppm levels.

We have focussed on the potential of liquid phase desulphurization of hydrocarbons using the Desulf-1 method. The results were encouraging and we developed the method even further to include a catalyst oxidation system.

The results are phenomenal.
The testing of the process at a major multinational oil company have yielded the following results in the reduction of sulphur.

Diesel : Before : 2500 ppm
After : 350 ppm

Condensate : Before : 400 ppm
After : 38 ppm

Salient Features : Desulf Method
* Low Capital Cost
* Low cost of conversion comparable to conventional methods

* Ambient temparature, Atmospheric pressure operation
* Savings on Energy costs

* No Hydrogen, No Amines. Very friendly process. No Disposal problems for spent catalysts
* Temparature differential approximately 2 degrees C and thus no significant exothermic heat released.

* Diesel fuel with low or nil nitrogen compounds means premium fuel and environmentally friendly.
