Unique Natural Solvent
OFTs strong research orientation had helped in evolving a unique natural solvent for the solubalization of paraffinic waxes
in crude oils.
SOLPAR is a derivative of the Methylated Esters of Vegetable Oils and is proven to be an excellent safe solvent for paraffin
related problems such as Tank Bottom built-up, choked pipe lines, paraffin deposition in oil wells reducing production etc.
There are many solvents in the market. All the solvents available are toxic, unsafe to handle, hazardous chemicals such
as Xylenes, Toulenes etc. SOLPAR is a safe solvent derived from renewable resources such as vegetable oils, easy to handle,
safe to transport and harmless to human beings and marine cultures. SOLPAR is a biodegradable solvent.
Conventionally, tank bottom built ups of paraffin, choked pipelines, paraffin producing wells are treated with either
hot oiling or harmful solvents like Xylenes etc. Either way, the formations are damaged, paraffin crystals restructure themselves
after repeated hot oiling and they progressively get tougher and after a few treatments, they stop responding to hot oiling
etc. Solvents such as Xylenes are unsafe to handle and they have more damage causing ingredients which make these solvents
harmful. SOLPAR
is a direct dissolving and dispersing media and does not fall under the category of PPDs. It dissolves paraffins and sometime
Asphaltines and disperses them in the crude. After the dispersion takes place, its unusual for the paraffins to regroup. Thus,
SOLPAR helps to keep the paraffins dispersed for a long period of time reducing the possibility of redepostion of paraffin
once the solvent evaporates.
SOLPAR can be diluted with any cutter stock such as crude oil, lube oils, kerosene, diesel, LVGO etc. SOLPAR can be directly
introduced into the clogged pipelines or choked oil wells and it starts to act almost immediately to dissolve the paraffins
and unblock the choked and clogged lines. In tank bottom cleaning, introduce SOLPAR along with a suitable utter stock and
allow the tank bottom be circulated using the tank mixers for a few ours. The solubalized sludge can then be easily pumped
out thereby reducing the tank bottom clean up time quite considerably.
SOLPAR-W, a water soluble alternative can also be used to solubilize paraffinic sludges in case water emulsions are not
of a concern or at areas where there is no facility of cutter stock or heating is available. Emulsions can be demulsified
during further processing and hence it does not pose a problem for further processing of sludge.
SOLPAR and its variants can be used for sludge solubalization in open lagoons, ponds, sludge storage tanks etc., and the
local situation will dictate the mechanism of solubalization.
SOLPAR and its variants are bio-degradable, non-toxic, non-hazardous and environment friendly.
