Bio-remediation of HSD sludge in deep pits with plastic lining
Situation
Sludge was storedin the tank farm in a plastic lined pit of 10mtr/5mtr to the depth of 1.5 mtr. Plastic sheeting has been
spread on top
The 1st task was to remove the plastic sheeting both form the top as well as from the bottom. Being tank farm, no tiller
or tractor could be used. All the mixing procedures were done manually. The total percentage of hydro-carbons in the sludge
was 16%

Result
The sludge as shown in the photo within 8 weeks. After bio remediation, the total percentage of hydro-carbons was brought
down to 2%.
Achievement:
The total percentage of hydro-carbons was brought down to less than 2%.
